Qualifications

Applicant Eligibility*

1. Applicant must have at least ten (10) years licensed driving experience. If anyone in the household has less than 10 years driving experience, applicant must sign a note excluding them from driving the collector vehicle(s).
   
2. Household members' driving records can be no worse than one violation (not a DUI or reckless driving) or at-fault accident per driver, or two per household in the past 3 years.
   
3. Each licensed driver in the household (except full time students) must have a regular-use vehicle for daily transportation.
   
4. Applicants must carry liability limits on their Personal Auto Policy that are at least equivalent to their selection with American Hobbyist.

Vehicle Eligibility*

1. Vehicle must be kept in a fully enclosed, locked garage.
   
2. Vehicle must be in good original condition or restored. Newer, limited-production vehicles (e.g., Plymouth Prowler, Dodge Viper, Lamborghini Diablo, etc.) will be considered if usage is minimal and value is $20,000 or greater.
   
3. Minimum value for antique/classic vehicles is $4,000. Minimum value for street rods & custom classics is $7,000.
   
4. A central station security system is required in each garage housing an individual vehicle or collection valued at $150,000+.

Allowable Usage

1. Vehicles insured through this program may be used and enjoyed on a limited basis consistent with the operation of a collector vehicle (e.g., pleasure driving, club functions, exhibitions, tours, etc.).
   
2. Vehicles used for general transportation (e.g., commuting to work/school, running errands, etc.) or as a backup to the family car will not be accepted.
   
3. Vehicles used for occasional “off-roading,” racing or timed speed events are also unacceptable.
